Chucks Make The World
Working Weekend

People always ask what it’s like running a small business. My hours are long but flexible. How does that work out logically?

I operate during standard business hours 7:00am to 4:00pm PST on weekdays. My vendors are on Asia time, which means when I’m closing shop in sunny West Oakland, they’re schlepping to work 15 hours ahead in Taiwan.

I’ve streamlined my workload so that I can do most of my physical labor in daylight hours, and work remotely from home at night or on weekends. This weekend, Angie came by the warehouse for the first time in a blue moon (she is really Busy and Important), and was impressed by the new organization and layout.

She was overcome with joy at our shiny steel bits hand-wrapped with love on pallet racks. Our pallet jack is also a fairly new acquisition. This is a perfect example of inappropriate office attire. Close-toed shoes are a MUST! Steel-toed boots are perfection. Thankfully, this photo was taken on a Sunday afternoon, so I don’t need to write myself up.
